Ripperton Presents Zendama Tamed Musiq TBR: 8th November What began life as an idea for one record encompassing the vibes of all the positive people attracted to the Tamed Musiq dipole has resulted in a carefully manicured double EP. Ripperton Presents is a mash-up mix of various talents and feels that flow ambiently from artist to artist. Dissected into two distinctive parts, the double whammy vinyl offering takes us on a Tamed Musiq journey through inspiration and adventure. Track one takes us straight into a house beat. Marching pace drums pound a dance tempo while subtle under-sonics scrape and slide against rough surfaces. The music progresses gradually, more emphasis enters in the atmospheric side while the consistently penetrating beat rumbles forward. Howling whistles frame a melodic element which usher in bouncy rubber drums which wobble and ping underneath. Matt Karmil with Just For Me builds in layers, new additions of percussion fortify and raise the vibrational mood. Luminous Black & Emerald is next from Lord Of The Isles. A quick and snappy tempo resonates across dry open plains while distant rock formations bounce the echoes back to us. Distorted waveforms and static hums build like creeping vines around a framework of energetic flux. Building up and working down, melody begins to chime on either side with sporadic and harmonious bursts. Number three opens with a wide open synth phaser which sweeps from side to side. Distant birds call out from secretive forests before a new projection of sound is unveiled. Magical interludes of nostalgic orchestration sprinkle childish blessings across the luminous bars. Wisps of harp decorate a sultry bass-line to the feels of Fleetwood Mac's Albatross. Sunny and secluded scenes of sonic clarity take us on cloud-top journeys through oceanic contours. This Jackmate's Special Interest Dub version of Rerun by Jackmate and Nik Reiff really does stand on its own. We get to hear from the man himself as Ripperton takes the final slot on the first record. Indian Tree takes us into the seductive realms of slow dance and late night lights. Euphoric synths draw out shining lines across a sustain sky while rapturous rhythms align layers and pressure points within the harmonics of the track. Relaxing grooves encourage a reclining listening position, unless the music is being played in the club, when its wind-down quality undoubtedly prepares a room for something momentous. As we enter the world of disk two in the double EP set, we're hit full on by another pounding house beat. This time with a little more juice and a persistent sense of strictness. The rhythm pushes on, uninhibited until a slight interjection of bass causes it to drop. New sonics are smoothed over in a sweet and fluffy film before the pounding tempo is revisited. Extra dimensions to the forward thrust of percussion are added, layers of timing and rhythmic shunts offer ever deeper digs into the groove. Signs of the Sun by DJ Nature throws us head-first into a vibrant festivity of beats. Mary Yalex comes next with an introspective melody. It's soon matched by glistening hats which smash their way through a thin border of reality and dream. How U Really Feel begins to warble and spin on a fast approaching axis. Then, as the dust settles, a plucked and tapped bass note stitches through in an abstract timing. Eerie and ghostly sounds sway from side to side as the hypnotic beats continue to lay down their inward paths. Next is a spectral melody that radiates in many opalescent directions. Spanning the cosmos with ambient clarity, a sudden surge of rhythm strikes down a catching vibe. We ride along a synth pulse which takes us on a side-stepping journey into further realms. Blips and beats combine along futuristic chords to give us a clear view of the future world swiftly approaching. Crowdpleaser brings us Claire, she sounds lovely, exciting, and full of energy. Effervescent composition gives buoyancy to the circular rhythms that marvel at the optimism wrapped in notes. Iron Curtis finishes the record with a track called Werc Werc Werc. This Andy Hart mix takes the track down to a minimal beat introduction that gradually branches out with more percussive elements. Scratching static sounds underpin the repeating drum-lines before a new mirage like synth tone leaks from cracks in the ground. Subtle climbs in percussion and atmosphere give way to ever increasing pressures built from layers of drum and harmonising waves. Tranquil and full of character, this closing number sits carefree on the end of an invigorating selection of tracks. Catch up with Tamed Musiq on Resident Advisor And find Ripperton on Soundcloud

LadyMonix
Baby EP Frizner Electric Records TBR: 1st November LadyMonix makes an entrance just as the summer fades into memory. She wants to explore what it means to be deep. As we descend into the basements of the underground electronic music venues, leaving the open fields and secluded beer-gardens behind for another year, this throbbing crimson disk just itches to be played. Made of two originals plus a super remix, this three track blaster takes us further into the realm of LadyMonix and beyond. A soundtrack to many parties, Baby sets the season in motion with ample attitude. A mash-up of percussion and lyrics begin the record. Clappy rhythms and random drums rotate on their axis and dig out a well chiselled groove. Emotional upbeat inflections in the vocal give the track a bouncing atmosphere, fabulous drum riffs pounce on the tempo with mirrors of loop and layer. Vibrant synthesiser pads jostle with shimmering melody that fills open spaces with inflatable brightly coloured ornaments, It's as if in a dream, we wander through lanes of tall grass and day-glow architecture. Memories of the summer-time fill our senses as we dance to this funky and expressive track. A Stefan Ringer remix of Baby follows, the same groove is spun out along a deep and chewy bassline. That shimmering vocal re-emerges, stunning us with a new direction of energy. Effervescent liquid sensations cuddle and coil as minimal beats and thumping bass dish out avenues of rhythm. Building up with every few bars, layers tingle and touch with abstract tenderness to reveal more facets to the spinning-wheel of sound. A catchy dancing beat penetrates plucky synth and chiming harmonies. Emotive vocalisations of happiness ring out across the neat and portioned elements of rhythmic flow. For the final entry, a ringing synth calmly pushes us out to sea with rapid shunts of tone. A snare and cymbal combo pound over a kick-drum with quick thrusts. Upbeat male vocal shimmies around the angular framework of rhythm while a penetrating synthesiser bashes out a monotonous pulse. Twin effects with drum and key give a dualistic two lane direction for exploratory vocals and funky synths to discover a catching atmosphere. A Feeling relentlessly bashes out a quick rhythm with lots of obliterating high-end while a steady thundering kick keeps everything rooted to the floor. Jonnine
Super Natural Good Morning Tapes TBR: 24th October This magical EP by HTRK's Jonnine celebrates the singer-songwriter's debut as a solo artist. With her synonymous use of spoken word and deep, touching compositions, this time we can truly indulge in the musical talent from this super artist. We are taken on a magical adventure through the realms of supernatural thought. While exploring the inner guides and our own mental boundaries to them, this four track release projects poetry and fills the air with introspective vibrations. Jonnine created this album under the spell of a future film that she and long term colleague Zebrablood are destined to one day make. Tied in with eight years of great friendship and personal growth in each other's lives, this new EP offers us all a supernatural experience. A bassy breeze of sonic spaciousness begins the music, like distant horns carried by the wind. Percussion bubbles from disinterested surfaces as Jonnine begins to cast her enchantments. Her sanguine voice carries through the composed abstraction like thread, stitched under and over the fabric of the piece. Eerie and haunting rhythms crunch through a soft undergrowth of sonic matter. You're Wanting It To Go This Way explores the way we create our own destiny and trial through the way we perceive ourselves, the inner workings of our self identity. I Don't Seem Myself Tonight follows. It has a higher state of energy. Synths sing in a new rhythm, quicker and more punchy. Jonnine enters once more, this time she sings as well as recites. Harmonising tones and forward pushing beats raise the energies and create peace among emotional currents. More melody on chiming keys create wafts of colour before organic instrument sounds give percussive dream-like injections. Sleepy and comfortable, this track spirals into a blissful out of body sensation. Turn over the record and we're hit with a guitar melody. It's filled by percussion and synth bass which takers the lead. Behind, a string vibrates in rhythmic clarity, holding key. The song begins, whispered and close. Jonnine tells us about the kind of people we're hanging around with, the kind of people who are just on the take. They see you as an opportunity for their ego. It might hurt to hear it but perhaps we needed to? You Can Leave The Vampires speaks to all those people who find themselves going nowhere with their talents. Finally, Scorpio Rises Again starts on a clean vocal on its own. A small melodic drum patters behind then a trumpet sound rings out. The words are a warning, letting us know that somewhere within is a spirit waiting to grab with both claws and lash out with stinging force. Protective and ferocious, Scorpio represents so many things. We want them on our side, that's for sure. The music progresses with strings and wobbling effects before more trumpet and synthesiser begin to compose a dreamy score. Elements of several instruments combine as well as a male vocal to compliment Jonnine. It's a spooky EP and one that builds an interesting energy in the room. Artistic and avant-garde, Jonnine's Super Natural is strangely accessible and works on many levels of intellect. You can follow Jonnine on Twitter and Instagram Visit Good Morning Tapes online
Hercules And Love Affair
The Change EP Skint Records TBR: 1st November After a long haul session of touring in which Hercules And Love Affair creates live reruns of all the favourite techno tracks, it's about time something new was put on the table. Andy Butler and producer Alec (Second) Storey combine their musical talents once more in the studio to create The Change EP. Change, the single and video, is out now and linked at the end. What it wants to say is “Expect New Things”, musical partnerships naturally progress as each member expands on their talent arsenal in their own direction. Keeping things fused and together perhaps owes thanks to the continual performances these two have been a part of. The release features the new track, of course, as well as three more. These well-known titles have been admirably remixed into something new, demonstrating how the now matches up to what came before it. It begins with a bouncy drum rhythm. Deep and twangy percussion resonates in a calm sequence as a vocal sample works its way forward. Random phonics rhythmically chant over the beats as a whistling synthesiser enters with a melody. New drums find their way in, quick tapping snare and shaker create a waving ocean of solid percussion. Chiming bell synths add another layer of quality, like sheets along a neatly folded display, harmonies and tone resonances compliment one another. Vocals become more apparent, lyrics replace the rhythm sounds as trumpets start blurting their uplifting vibe. Raise Me Up (Featuring Anohi) gets a funky and leftfield make-over with this Hercules 2019 Remix. A groovy combo of shakers, snare, and deep bass create the opener for Change. A curling tubular melody creates another angle to the shape before blips combine with a vocal line about changes. Sporadic and intermittent beeps swing on the sides of consistent and thorough beats. Lyrics begin to create a harmonising melody while a progressive element in the mix creates ever more inclusivity. We're drawn in as the rhythms repeat in hypnotic phrases. Chording warble notes span out in a madman flavoured spiralling dance as lyrics continue to keep us attentive. It breaks down to simpler layers before slowly finding pace and building once more. A catchy bass driven rhythm opens for the next track. Alongside the rapid fire beats of kick come metallic slap sounds that add an industrial edge. New rhythms poke through, adding yet more teeth to the rotating cog of music. Dancing paced and full of emotive effects, sultry lyrics begin to craft a smooth enchantment across the groove. Crunchy rhythms and deep, sudden bass-lines give a digging feeling to the mix while skyward notations and poetic lyrics continue to spin the beautiful threads of silken vibe. Krytsle Warren adds a powerful energy to My Offence which gets mechanised and welded with new confident vigour. Finally, we get a soulful vocal on its own. Harmonising elements raise the phrases before sloshy metalwork begins to underpin the intent. Repeating lyrics and sections of cymbal percussion give way to a deep bassline, decisive and exploratory. The vocals open to bring more words and tuneful bursts of voice. Harmony and rhythm work together while keyboard fills bring percussive notes into a new area of adventure. Extremely catchy and with an upbeat sense of optimism, Are You Still Certain (Featuring Mashrou Laila) again gets a new injection of energy to close this accessible and striking record. Leonardo Chevy
Go Far Away (Single) Audiophile Deep Records Out: 26th September Rising star of the Audiophile Deep camp Leonardo Chevy is warmly welcomed back to the press with a brand new EP single. Raw and grabby techno comes in all shapes, and this one is definitely suitable for most electronic music clubs. With a deep understanding of the way sound and rhythm work together in a crowd and in a single head, Leonardo Chevy seems to always make excellent material without fail. It's been a bonanza year for Leo and this cherry on the top leaves us excited for what's to come. A mixture of beats and area building sounds swirl together in a jagged intro. Three beats and a rest make the form as the music gradually fills its given space. Exploratory vocal effects enter, bringing a new dimension. Eerie and mechanical sounding chords churn in time to the rampant drumming while the digital vocoder work lays a representative silk across the body. Bass and chirruping synthesiser takes over, a brief percussion rest then unravels the drums again to culminate the progression. The previous elements merge with the new to give us a jumpy and dancing swish through repeating phrases of tone and beat. Go Far Away drops and builds at various intervals, each rise brings with it a new direction of energetic drive. Ball Shaped Lightning may as well be a double A track as it carries the same clear quality as before. New rhythms crumbled in with dirty static sounds and shaking bass bring the temperature up. A higher pitched bell percussion adds another layer. Catchy rhythm licks disintegrate into new quicker timings as extra elements of beat are laid down. Less melody than before is equalled with complicated wandering drum patterns which fill the sides of chunky walking bass. Layers of rhythm combine in a dreamy slurry of techno infused sounds. Buhduzit
Epoch EP DeepWit Recordings Out Now Multi-talented composer and producer Buhduzit emerges on DeepWit Recordings with a unique edge. We love it when labels take risks with the less-commercial sounding artists, music is a continually evolving organism and it takes special people to break in with new sounds to create that change. With a passion for invoking natural instruments with electronic music configurations, the merging of atmospheres from two distinct worlds creates a new form of tangible substance. Honing an accessible sound from two definitive spheres gives Buhduzit an advantageous cutting-edge clarity which no-doubt makes a great foundation stone. A snappy snare led rhythm opens Happy Go Lucky along with resonating synthesiser tones. Dubbed effects in the music give a jittering sense to the flow. A drum-break cuts through the scene to reveal a strong and heady bass-line. Wandering dancing beats churn in a bellows of tone and percussion. New drums with swirling expressions begin to create a layer of rhythm to sit on top of throbbing and far reaching bass tones. More progression unfurls as shimmering bell tones chime in ambient mirages of sonic apparitions. As the music continues, a storyline of evolving sounds and rhythm instruments drift along to create a continually moving and uplifting composition. Next, a spiritual harmony of various notes whistle and chime through a thick, viscous static. Freight-train drumming canters along in the distance, revealing patterings of droplet sounds which glisten like enchanted audiences. Rhythm breaks free, a kick drum in double-time surges through as various swirling and murky tones dance in neatly illuminated glades. Tribal percussion as wooden blocks carry a basic tune forward through the shimmery composition. Faded strikes as a delicate examination of interesting sonic spires leaping from distant horizons. As we draw in, bar by bar, the majestic architecture brings itself to life as the ornate descriptions fractal into complexity. Home starts with a thundering bass-drum which rumbles at an organised pace. As this continues, rain begins to fall and ping from various objects. Roof-tiles, water-barrels, guttering, all the elements of a home are there. Windy swifts of glittering sound fray in the punctured air as they build and coalesce once more within pockets of stillness. A smooth drum-beat shines forward in a chatty and upbeat grasp of the brighter side. The sun starts to come out, revealing all the many various perspectives and temporal anomalies of space. For the final track, we get the DJ favourite. An almost aggressive rhythm peeks out from behind the curtain of silence and cuts through the remnants of the previous mix. An uplifting sense of introspective dance emerges as the track progresses into space-age swirling sounds and digital frills of high-speed tonality. A snare enters, it rolls and washes before a new dynamic in the bass gives a thumping edge to the mixture of independent yet gravitationally attracted sounds. U660 remains in the fast-lane, building and growing with each progression. As the record culminates, the energy is focussed and magnified in a beaming burst of synth, drum, and intelligent sound experiments. Buhduzit can certainly be proud of this debut release. Then, there's more. Not only does 2019 see the entrance of this great electronic music artist, it also sees the birth of a new record label. Memory Cloud is set to be run by the man behind the Buhduzit camp and to specialise in experimental electronic dance. You can listen to Epoch by Buhduzit now on Spotify Follow Buhduzit on Facebook Soundcloud and Instagram Visit the DeepWit Recordings website and find DeepWit on Soundcloud Catch up with Memory Cloud on Facebook Soundcloud and Instagram Ty Lumnus Decompression EP Bricolage Records Out 28th September Glasgow based sound producer Ty Lumnus returns to the music factory with a distinctive new flavour. Previously known for surging down-tempo and dreamy soundscapes, this time rhythm is given a louder voice in the crowd. An experimental and space inspired dynamic remains, yet with beats involved, the music takes on a brand new dimension of drama. This four track diversion from reality replaces our everyday thoughts with an epic soundtrack full of visual prompts. Opening with an electronic blip pluck which soars like a violin in an empty room, abstract and punchy beats craft their way through the mixture. Crunching rhythms and crackling warm distortion brew with sporadic and almost jerky melodies. Bass rips through in a heavy sunken ditch as the sides elevate in repeating motifs and compositional progression. Glittering sonic displays burst in ever-present wafts of sparkly sound while a progressive rhythm brings the intensity into new levels. This is Bird In The Air Pump, it chugs along with whistling harmonics that crinkle in the neatly marching tempo. 3 In Goats begins on a tubular bass which curls and shudders with each blast of its piping sound structure. Walking hi-hats chirrup in jostling kinesis until a new synthesiser phrase weaves an exploratory pattern among the already mature landscape. Looking around in all directions, the notes wander like searching eyes, unsure of what they will perceive. Chords bustle in the undertones in pulsating patters that continually fuel the building percussion section. The music grows each notion of self and allows new elements to adorn the progressive architecture. New bars bring new feels and as they rotate on their stereo axis the space allows new sounds to fill the potential. Next, a melodic drum-riff clamours across an open valley. Windy sonics create lines in the air as their notations swerve in abstract twists. Helices of sound build into an up-beat dancing rhythm that warbles and shifts as if there are bumps in the road. Close to life feels in the twinges of layering match repeating jingles and rhythm sandwiches that become bricks that adorn a well sculpted design. Mysterious high end swirls dig at the ceiling while soft yet insistent pulsing drums merge in a river of percussion. Tolerances has an edgy quality, underneath the faced is perhaps a disfiguring current of chaotic froth. The EP ends on Haldane Tables. A wooden instrument with a deep pot of sound beneath it creates percussive phonics in a rainy window of shimmering. Synthesiser with wobbling whistles starts to display a melodic intention before a chiming digital tone adds an array of shifting notes. These emerge into a deep and more layered instrument, it fizzes and drills as the composition evolves and builds under its own pressures. New waves of high pitch string fly out from crevices left over to form unique three dimensional patterns in the sonic sky. Building, breathing, almost living isobars of sound nestle among each other in a slow dance that snakes like a river across various cartographies. Plants Dub
Music From The Trees Pregnant Void Records TBR: 15th October What began as a two year research project, looking at the humanitarian symbolism behind trees, has now resulted in this fantastic vinyl and CD release. Trees inspire philosophy, art, literature, and spirituality with their structure, their grace, and their seasonal cycles. This rich and deep anthropological architecture which trees speak to can only be explored and celebrated. This is a remarkable album. Through a merging of the sciences and the humanities, these biological creations of Earth are our distant relatives. All the life on Earth has a common ancestor, the miracle of the functioning cell occurred only once. We know this because on the very basic level, the molecules used by life are the same across the whole ecosphere. If conditions on the early Earth were so perfect, and life took a-hold only once, how likely is it to happen at all? Could it be that some external force put the whole process in motion? The majority of life on Earth is single celled. There are huge numbers of life-forms which are tiny, and only a sliver of the pie represents life that has size. Macro-life like animals and plants are perhaps the gods of this Earth, far superior and with considerably more freedom than any other. Even a plant can choose where to grow, which leaves to let go of. Plants Dub is made up of three like-minded plant enthusiasts. Based in Lecce, Italy, art historian and light designer Maria Teresa Santoro, Francesco Andriani De Vito aka Dubin, dj and producer, and dub master and producer Andrea Presicce aka NoFinger Nails, have focussed their research and creativity into this one album. By combining electro-dub with bio-harmonics found through strict research, Plants Dub open a corridor of communication between us and our plant based brothers and sisters. We can tell them our story through the medium of sound, how do you think we would get a response? Have you ever heard the whispering of the trees? Acanthus Mollis begins with a shivering pulse that is matched by a wavering synthesiser. A kick drum bashes out a distinctive intro fill before new drums crash in with an upbeat tempo. Abstract shimmers of sound waft across a wall of rhythm while abstract melody builds behind. A surge of chiming bells rings across an open space, their melody dreamy and child-like. Ornamental instruments create unique sounds which continually push the music in branching directions. The sound of moving cars briefly cuts in, perhaps to remind us that trees often live among the roads. More whispery bells strike a ghostly melody, before the track draws to a close. Next, a skittery synthesiser revolves across a portion of scale. Behind this, a swerving tone slides across like a gate separating this from the other. It's left open, to flag in the wind like loose material. Beats break free, another smooth and upbeat percussion line drips with interesting sounds and sloshy cymbals. The various effects that are thrown at the instruments gives the swirling rhythmic feel we perhaps associate with forests. Birdsong calls out from the wilderness while tropical melodies continue to spiral up into the canopy. Morus is a fun and adventurous number, filled with harmonies and dashing fills of light melody. Laurus Nobilis builds gradually from silence. Subtle sounds evolve and swell in distances unknown while from the sides, a pressure of tone builds until it fills the peripheral space. Squelching rumbles and breathing textures reach then fade to leave a small feedback wail which becomes the leading instrument. Again, subtle undertones bring harmonising expression. This minimal and inward track makes use of slightness and silence to build an interesting sonic space. Turn the record over and we're met with a shining melody. Chiming tones radiate with glistening clarity while spring beats start to create an under-layer. Bells and stodgy synths create a dancing and twinkling abstract sonic image. The area is wise and with many spaces between the instruments, each element shakes on its physical plane as unseen energies decorate with glittering spray. Ambient and dream-like the combination of mild-mannered synthesiser tones walk across a topography of rolling soundscapes. Olea Europea builds like a wash of light through a thick vegetation high above our heads. Quercus Ithaburensis begins with a pattering of percussion that's shielded by subtle synths. It's quiet in here, disinct silences are split by the injection of rhythmic placements and singing distances. Listen carefully, there's much going on in the spaces between the nothingness. An incredibly gradual rearing of the sounds occurs over minutes, more beats slowly grow to fill the texture before a melody of bells finally breaks free. Was this a seed that has just made sight of the sky? More slender melody works its way through the darkness to greet us with reverberating resonance. It's a relaxing journey through the consciousness of tree-life. Blue Veil Man Against Self Dichotomy Records TBR: 25th October Now famous for producing intelligent and modern techno from across its genre map, Dichotomy Records continue to establish their synonymous vibe. Danny Clancy AKA Blue Veil curates and creates for the label, this time he's lined up two stunning EP releases for this Autumn. Man Against Self is the first of this latest batch. With three unique productions, each with a distinctive sound, Blue Veil provides DJs and happy listeners with a triple arsenal of electronic exploration. With grimy distortion humming behind the sounds, a quick bass driven beat opens the single. Catchy bass with a hollow drum feel resonates in neat bursts while a hat and snare combo rises above the fizzing static. A looped dancing pace reveals the mood, minimal yet exciting and deep, a vocal sample begins to climb out from the knotted sounds. A female chanting in a whispered hush scoops up a melodic percussion line which flutters and flaps in tight riffs. Makes Me Feel So raises the energy and spins us around in happy circles. A windy field is replicated as Jaguar Eyes begins. A thumping bass, deep and buried, reveals a quicker pace. Energetic and low reach rays of orange sunlight torrent like rivers across fields and hillsides. A louder bass kick bursts into bloom. Like a thick wooden drum, it cracks open the egg to let out more flowing rhythms. Clock resemblances grip the emotive quality with a faster than usual ticking while a sunken feel continues to drip with murk and moisture. Dreamy and cavernous sonics throw postures into difficult to see skies. Somewhere in this ganglion of sonics beats the heart of a predatory soul, hunting for the next feed. Soulful synthesiser pads unravel in a rainy dreamscape as the final track makes an appearance. Heavenly chords beam across lofty viewpoints as muddy ground sponges away in the distance. Soaring on currents of warm air, across a vision of natural clarity, whether a room full of people or a drive through the country, this music shows us the better side to perceive. Magical moments and subtle energies coalesce in waves of slow moving abstraction. A slight rhythm scratches and crawls behind the brilliant light of sounds. Pleasure Culture sustains a hedonistic and euphoric edge while the percussion gradually peels from its skin.
