Geistech
Enochian Voices Science Cult Records TBR: 10th July EDM and IDM from Mexico City features on this next Science Cult issue. Geistech has become well established already on the local circuit and online with great sounding dark minimal dance. Captivating party-goers with dramatic and evocative manifestations of melodic tempo, this label debut release is the result of hard work and dedication. Enochian Voices already has the world waiting to listen. With six blinding tracks, Enochian Voices spells success for rhythm and synthesiser fans the world over. The album starts with a twinkling pulse synthesiser and a kick drum. Upbeat phrases grow like fractal trees in moments of timing. A bass squidge is added, soon followed by extra drumming and then a vocal-line. Repeating words build with the dynamic as new layers of bass and rhythmic melody flush across the composition. With progressive clarity, the evolution brings on hypnotic elements of quick and dense dance. Alquimista throws us in the deep-end with catchy, inventive, and unique sounds all working together. Aztec Mirror starts with a resonating bass tone. Eerie synth drops plip in random plashes before a steady kick drum dressed in distortive fizz begins to thump. A snare is also added, it cracks the music with continual steady snaps. Odd minor keyed notes sprawl like loose violins as a section of hi-hat adds a fast step to the flow. More additions of rhythm are stitched in, off-beats and double-ups each grace the kinesis with unique aspects. Next, a subtle hi-hat rattles in a distance as an in-your-face vocal begins chanting. Distorted phonic buzz along the gradually building rhythm before a stabbing bass-line is brought into play. Wandering high-notes circle in spacial patterns then the vocal begins again. A human edge with an anti-aesthetic sharpness slices through the swirling hypnogogia. Encantatum builds with shifting sands swooping and coalescing again in various adjustments of key. Enochian Lenguage is next. It starts with a piercing kick drum and sloshy drips of dappled bounce. Airy synthesisers shine in echoing lines across the far-reaching ceilings of sound. The drums evolve, extra percussion gives way to a sleek and dynamic rhythm which although delicate, contains enough energy to boil a dance-floor. Hard-hitting drums are thrown down at random intervals before yet more progression unveils a new second layer. A festival of rhythm with radiant melodics filling the spaces ensues. After comes a steady beat that's full of reverb. Interesting rolls on a cymbal signify the beginning proper and a set of rhythms mark a footsteps style piece. As we walk or march on the spot to the music, various aspects make themselves apparent. Jostling functions of sound merge and combine and this rolls open a door from which enters another vocal. Bubbling effects once more distort and garble the phonics as build-ups and shake-downs continue to adjust the flux of the tempo. This is The Key, and if my ears serve me right, it's about upbeat grooves with evocative interludes held together by funky glue. Finally, we're treated to Presente. What is immediately noticeable is that it's slightly slower than the previous track. A smooth attitude crafts and creates through laid-back beats. Wooden sounding percussion mixes with a fizzing vibration sound that pulses and twangs to the rhythm. Harmonising tones dance in the distance as whispering additions that decorate the skeletal frame with silken flesh. A dreamy picture builds as the repeating drums allow for the dramatic and reserved build-up of each element. This culminates in yet more interesting vocals, once more artistically sculpted with effects.
