Fall Into Noise – The Remixes PRAH Recordings TBR: 5th November Established in the scene with his PRAH debut Fall Into Noise, Raven Bush garnered a long line of excitement about his break-through sound. Eager to play and explore, several large fishes in the nearby pools have made it their mission to become associated with the epic climb of Raven Bush. The album implores us to accept the chaos that surrounds us although it may be frightening and disturbing to contemplate. Control is never fully in our reach so let's just take responsibility for ourselves and give each other the gift of this extraordinary offering of remixes. Hannah Holland brings her version of Your Space to open the EP. Deep and sensual tones reverberate across throbbing bass as windy synths briskly breeze from stereo directions. Harmonious chimes rise from distinctive shadows as coiling deep tones foam with surging crawls. Cymbals begin to shine, effects swerve their directional flow as repeating splashes spiral around the soft under-bedding. Springy inflections grow from the spires of rhythm and manufacture the driving pulse carried by a persistent bass drum. Unison beats and harmonising melodies pinch the plastic into well-crafted grooves. Rhythm progresses as a bass tone threads through the consistent drums. New levels of bass-drum kick in as repeating melodies knock on the door of the dance-floor. A new dimension of composition breaks like a wave as dancing keyboards conjure magical atmospheres. The Alex Banks remix of A Choice is full of heavy bass and quick-step rhythms that reach into dreamy soundscapes. Space-age sonic experiments shine in spikes and aerials that beam with metallic lustre. A sudden flux of bass matches a smooth and invigorating drum as talkative synthesisers create a mousy chime through the depths of soul. Never is remixed by Sam Interface, leading with heavy bass, ethereal and spectral melodies create tranquil adaptations that flutter against solid walls. Flavoursome chords and clever use of sample stretching lend an artistic quality to an already banging number. Dainty whistles evolve into spectral orchestrations with string and flute adapting a journey-like background of moving emotions. Cinematic motifs call through churning scenery as pressure-pads warp and generate interesting spires that lean with pressing luminance. The Factory Of Light then springs into power mode as tense and weighty bass throbs into a heady kick-drum. Spiralling spaces climb and creep in corridors adjacent to the mechanics within forming chaos. This Anna Lann version takes us deeply into a sinister and exciting underworld. A roll of catchy drums resonates into a crisp and spiritual atmosphere when Start Of Something New gets remixed by Moire. Drone sounds hang in sweet shelving as breathy interludes offer embers a burst of extra presence. Tranquil voices call through synthesised signatures as a muffled yet touched bass rhythm pounces on the moving surface. Dreamy turns of perspective elevate sudden formations that glisten before disappearing into the misty surrounding once more. The final number chugs in on summery beats with chiming sonic uplift. Vocals echo in a dub style projection as new waveform enter on galloping thoroughbred sonics. Shuffle-step drumming beams in on winged effigies of complex tonality and flow. Mixing bass and curdling synthesisers vortex and coil in rivers of loosely harmonising free flow. This remix of A Choice by 7st gets cosy with soundwaves that blanket and bubble-wrap in colourful meters. Multani DOT EP Reflektor Records Out: October 22nd Craftily blending synthesiser pop with downtempo electronica, Niels Meukens brings to life his latest project. Multani represents the synthesis of dreamy escapism with the blurring of genres and adaptations of rhythm techniques. Making use of organic instruments including guitar and voice, Multani uses effects and synthesisers to elevate the natural sounds into something fantastical and otherworldly. The drummer from Belgium has fortified himself in a brilliantly fertile field that matches his compositional soul. Ethereal tones mumble in the shade as warping elevations of amplitude touch the next dimension. A ruffled harmony stretches in notions of understanding as gradients of tone are brought into higher spectra. The sound shifts and a brand new direction is discovered. A chirpy melody begins to strike down with unison drums as effected vocals lend the high end to the chorded delivery. The rhythm progresses, its tempo remains the same but the pacing buries itself in the oncoming throb of digital bass. Lime introduces us to the sentiment of the artist and with uplifting grooves spliced into deep-down provocative shoe-gazing, the compass finds true north. Melon is next, it staggers in on a cinematic barrage of sleepy notes. Keyboard meets bass as the drum kicks in with a heavy room sound. Chord progressions and sliding rhythms whistle on major keys that sparkle with modal inflection. A churning of jazzy ambition drives the progressive nature of the synth-wave formation and lifts the music from the safety-net of similarity to anything else. Laid back and introspective, this soundful poise allows the edging in of experimental combinations within structured beats. The next track beams into being on a barrage of bubbling tones that buoyantly bob on whole-tone bass. Melody spans the distance in a spiralling eddy of morning sparkle. Everyday's The Same is a short and introductory number for the next track. Cycle uses the phrase that named the previous number in a vocal wave of dreamy presence as child-like bells and trombones muse on rainy windows and bookshelves. An imaginary avenue spans out as the mind is free to wander along the non-linear and symbolic imperfections jostling for subtle attention. Finishing up with Melt, a driving drum-beat hammers a smooth and sultry groove into the airspace. Wobbly tones produce chorded glyphs as whistling lead synthesisers snake through the shaking spaces. Luminary undertones elevate pitches of interest as a squelching bass imprints boot-shapes into the soft and malleable footing. With a sudden cut, the music stops and leaves us feeling slightly naked on the top of a plateaux, waiting patiently for the next adventure. 486.134 Science Cult Records TBR: 29th October The Astra Spectra run-through continues with its sixth item. A series of electronica releases with cosmological titles are making their way into the heavens. Tilting according to gravitational influences within musical spheres, French music producer Fleck E.S.C. unites the skies for 486.134. Here we receive 5 EDM tracks that bang louder than a building-site and end up pressed on limited blue vinyl. The name of the album in fact refers to the Hydrogen absorption spectrum of our very own Sun, which is the atomic property of gobbling up the photons buzzing at just the right speed. Like a sea of energy, with waves and whirlpools, we're dragged as little individuals into this fabric of sound. With a whir and a click, house style snare driven beats fold the paper and create a focus. A siren enters, on rubbery lines and mechanical entourages. Springy electronics dabble with spacious surroundings as the mechanism takes a moment to reset itself. Garbled radio voices crackle through the mix as divulgent streams of rhythm froth in pebble lines trails. A frantic thrust of futuristic dreams vector on the scope as ethereal noises bounce from stable and familiar drumming. It's called Hot Bath, and with its bubbly texture it's easy to see why. Next is Further Away. It growls into the space with a rumble of powerful drums and runs off cymbals that roll between the beats. Synthesiser music bounces in alien formations as rhythmic bass and spring jiggle and dance to the atmospheric soundscapes hurtling through the corridor of production. It simmers down, atmospheric bass sparkles in plucked tranquillity as vibrant harmonics echo into oblivion. Rhythm returns, with throbbing intensity and three—dimensional distributions. Mysterious sounds swell up from revolving projectors as a squelchy rhythm section manifests alongside modem sounds and printer-like whirs. Jostling engineering forms random programs of rhythmic sound that coalesce into something tangible. Drawn synthesiser slowly explores angular corners of scale in eerie and enchanting motions. Inflammatory mixes fast and shifting with slow and repetitive in a juxtaposition of tenuous tensile tones. Next is a Fever Dream remix of the previous number, Inflammatory. It's produced by label head and series visionary Syrte. It opens with cosmic beats and grinding energies that radiate within spores of collapsing tide. Revolving mechanical apparatus vibrates and clinks with tempered adjustment. A deep and energy rich bass then lays over the mix like jam being spread in luxurious portions. Distant transmissions kiss the aerials in pulsations of computerised progression as passing engines interact with the interface projecting from the artefact. A ghostly array of tubular resonances coils from an emptiness poised to roar. Bass tones thump with growling semblance as darkened zaps fly from projected angles within mirrored scenery. Buzzing chatter brings us to a new area where phantom like wisps circle overhead in playful nonchalance. Oddly manicured tones curve and bend around climbing bars of graded position that cradle an air of mixed feelings and driving beats. Lost Privileges ends the album with a spooky and haunted drive through the closing chapters. You can find Fleck E.S.C. On Soundcloud and Facebook Find the album 486.134 by Fleck E.S.C. Ava EP Reflektor Records Out 15th October Recorded on the Dutch Island of Texel, Amy Root's brand new EP follows on from the extremely well-received Elif. Removing themselves from the humdrum of the modern world, absorbing the emptiness of natural beauty manifested a subliminal dimension to existence. This subtle drama and vibrant nature became the emphasis that made Ava a reality. Each track has been uniquely inspired by the works of Joseph Mallord William Turner, a well-respected British painter. The Dutch duo have used the sensations and ideas within the images to compose exciting and ethereal sound adventures. Rumbling atmospheric storm sensations bulge with imminent progression as harmonious swathes of layered string and vocal curdle and foam from every focal point. Waves of euphoric tonality crest overhead as adjustments in the micro-layer prepare fertile ground. Zeal is hedonistic and enchanting. Formless currents manifest and merge within helpless bubbles that blow upon fantastic oceans knitted from memory and dream. Delicate pianos describe Sofia. The breezy undertone whisks a secondary sensation before a strangely effected yet poignant and effective vocal emerges from under the stairs. Now under the stars, amidst an eternal expanse of potential and glow, a rhythm shutters the emptiness with hinged rhythms. Repeating vocals cast hypnotic disparities through the dramatic drifts of creativity that clothe a distinguished beat. Crumbling surroundings fall into place as a squeaking rhythm cycles out into the wilderness. Panel drums rattle with rhythmic vibration as a sea of synths begins to wash over the dry shore. A tidal presence forms a delicate brushstroke across tranquil nature. Vocals add a flavour of mysterious soul that haunts the time with grasping eyes. Ava progresses into a choppy space-disco as meandering tones collide in metered bursts. Dwindling elements fall into wider spaces that describe chapters of meaning. Intendant rises up on a ladder of beats. Crisp and seductive rhythms jamboree in a dilute of flavours mingling together under one roof. A vocal echoes through the pressure, and new drums with cymbal strikes bounce into the central fold. Bass rolls in motioning manoeuvres in lists of chipper breeze and merging formations of rhythm. Marching pace synthesisers with tubular resonances throb in shaken pulses of dance tempo. Deep sensual scratching creaks like pressured timber moving against itself as a symphonic warm effervescence coils up from vaporous cauldrons. Drum and bass rhythms then articulately transpose their-selves into an acrobatic routine that meets all the requirements laid before them. Wandering trumpet sounds grow like balloon animals bending under twisting resonances that create more than what they were. Turmoil throws us into a futuristic blend of interesting tones and rampant rhythms that slam ideas down like three of a kind hands. Berserk Cosmism Records Out: 1st October Back on the scene after his first record on Cosmism Records not long ago, Corvad presents Berserk. This energetic work, inspired by Kentaro Miura, offers up a double-A of artistic contrasts. Exploring fiery synthesisers and soul-crunching rhythms, this staunchly independent music-maker wields his freshly sharpened double-edged sword. With resonant beats in eerie surroundings, reverberations of movement swirl around the tempo. Ghostly wails climb glass walls as crunching bass smashes down into the drive. Mechanical drums from heavy industry clang and bang as manic sounds howl and chant to the time of a pushy bass drum. The progression of percussion maintains a surfing elevation as gated synthesisers and programmed transitions run through various feelings. Berserk is a massive triple pounder that keeps hitting us with extravagant flavours and punchy beat changes. Clipped beats run alongside hat-taps that build into a vocal sample. Swervy synths then froth the undercurrent as the sample loops on the word Integrate. The title of the track, the line builds into a throbbing synthesiser melody that hits us with tempo-driven force. Beats rain down in shifting processes that mutate and twist the zapping sounds into spirals of forward thrust. The vocal sample adds a human touch yet the constant warping of the sound feels like we're in a cybernetic projection. Bawrut & گليثر٥٥ Glitter
في السماء (Fe Samaa) Ransom Note Records Out 28th September Taken from the prominent In The Middle LP and featuring the exquisite talents of Moroccan DJ and vocalist گليثر٥٥ Glitter, Fe Samaa enchants and inspires through Bawrut's familiar escapist imagination. Founded upon Balearic design and retouched with modern ideas, this Orbital style composition fuses a multitude of influences. The Arabic spoken word element of the piece reflects a story of migration and movement. The words speak of the hopes for a decent life we all have and the disparity between those able to achieve it and those who are not. The music opens with Gregorian chants and spoken word. Haunting words echo through spacious chapel voids and mysterious atmospheres. An electronic composition is untied, raindrop like melodics scatter in introspective scales as bass thumps in with progressive swerve. The spoken word evolves into singing, repeated words sing the title as a chorus. Fe Samaa grows in prowess, like a filling glass of liquid, glowing in illuminated splendour. More spoken words appear, dramatic and empowered, harmonising under-layers of vocal elevate the poetry as drums thump in time to a heartbeat. The second track is Crossing For A Golden Blanket. An ethereal sound lifts from the nothing, drifting and humming to its inner fire. Bass lifts the sound, rolling in like a mountain-range. The tectonic forces drone and add pressures beyond the sky. As the intensity rumbles and rises, a second rhythm floats in and attaches to the groove. Deep and resonant bass with surging power holds the tone in rhythmic bouts of hypnotic relevance. Sensitive vocal samples wash through the mixture of elongated zaps and scrolling bass kites fluttering through sensual mists. Grumbling skies surge with persistent potential as house-style synths break over the distant hills. Vocals from LIBERATO present another side to Bawrut's influences. An upbeat rhythm snakes its way upwards as sensual close-in vocals sing a whispered progression. The rhythm continually climbs through evocative samples and comfortable synthesisers. Repeated vocal lines build an escalation of dancing spirit and soulful expression. JE ‘O TTENG E T’O DDÒNG provides an upbeat disco atmosphere to meld with the blurry deepness we know from the artist. You can visit Bawrut on Soundcloud and Twitter

Post-Covid Rave Fuego en Casa Records Out 5th October Celebrating the end of restrictions in Europe and beyond, Madrid 79 has produced a so-far stand-alone track that's all about the party. Of course, the virus has not gone away so it's not the end of danger, but the responsible of us can go out and enjoy ourselves in relative safety. Crossing busy high-streets and mingling with strangers, we put our faith in others to do their bit with us. Those of you who have been reading about electronic music long before The Electro Review showed up in 2018 will remember Future Music Magazine. This classic publication often gave away free samples on CD as incentive to get into production. This track by Madrid 79 is made from these samples. It just goes to show that with a bit of know-how and an artistic mind, great stuff can come from anything. Huge synth chords flummox into a groovy sequence, bumped up by whistle synth and droplet bass that thunders in the sub-tones. Uplifting happy melodies chime and chirrup in a silken layer floating on the top of siren sounds and the warming pad synth pinned to snappy drums and sunken bass. Vocal samples repeat in hooky lines of phonic expression. An old-skool wash is drenched over the framework of progression and relax. Every new bar reinvents the mixture to bring out all the flavours. Oceanographer
Nectar Werra Foxma Records Out 31st September Not every artist is capable of making work that makes you stop thinking and pay attention. Most can only add to the things already on your mind. Missouri based electronica musician Oceanographer is one of the former. His manipulations of sound are capable of turning heads and making them move to the subtle swaying of the beat. When it comes to ambient music production, none are better at fusing delicacy with intrigue than Oceanographer. Nectar is a latest LP and to offer a distinctively fascinating journey into the serious and sentimental. Soaring horns travail the skyline in flutters of gusty tone, layers of harmonising character join in tapestries of kite-like bunting that stretches into nets. Bells join the foray in an echoing corridor of adjustments. High and low tones merge through a wood effected amplitude as synthesiser tones brush the arthropod-like colour changes with inventive and intuitive strokes. Meeting Of Hearts adapts to a beautiful humming between resonant inflections of humanity and machine that dance to the patterns of mutual acceptance. The enchanting Cloud King follows in which a singing-bowl drone melody evolves into fractal chimes and harmonic resonances. Distorted percussion pours from one side to the other in Dali-esque betrayals of nature. Repeating chimes playfully gurgle like infant toys being used by intelligent elves only they can see. A dappling of form overpowers the majority of the sensation with bass that clinks and claps over furniture and drapery. A tubular scratching kinesis opens into watery backgrounds that bubble and waft with sunny dances. Disparate funnels of moving air coalesce into a waterfall that churns with torrential and effervescent opaqueness. Walls of crystalline pressure buffet the moving current of time that swiftly swims through interdimensional waterscapes and flow. Twinkling lights decorate the upper reaches of the charming surrounding, contained yet positioned within a well-defined evolution. Kettle Dance sweeps us away in clouds of vapour. Ghostly debris and train sidings clatter with gradual motion as carriages pass through on long-distance journeys. Slowing down to a crawl, empty architecture illuminates under the glare of rolling lamps. Greasy metalwork slides against oily machinery which loops through alien dreams and evaporations of old memory. After The Rain, Before The Rainbow is that magical chapter in which nostalgic phantoms reminisce against charcoal hued skies. The sun comes out through a lattice of speckled cloud-fare and wisps that glisten underfoot. Kaleidoscope Joy unveils on soaring chimes and sparkling rivers that glitter and splash with luminous physics. A circular image manifests as melodic rhythm pushes higher with harmony lent by generous pad synthesisers that rise in warm currents. Multi-layered and blissful, the music forms imaginary realms of infinite splendour within compartments of tone and choice of sound manifestation. Next, a slight tone breaths into existence, meandering and shifting like differing liquids flowing into the same glass. A surge of decadent cushioning forms within, odd keys lend a sense of awkward abandon to a joyous medley of character and sense. New tones submerge from hidden surfaces and become part of the mixture with calling and otherworldly non-linear intentions. Aurora opens like forest flowers, bringing a mingle of instruments and percussion together in a flux of energetic sundances. Sweeping choruses of aquatic song beckon the senses as Sightings ends the album. Passive incantations form over whisking sensations that caress with gentle perceptiveness. Spongy rhythms fizzle in warming air while distressed tones crumble into long instilled ethers. Foaming sprites of distilled sound vibrate into floral bouquets stitched with fairy-lights and rugged vesper books. A manifestation of promise, long-awaited wishes granted, and folded realities meeting in the centre. You can follow Oceanographer on Twitter Find music by Oceanographer on Bandcamp |
