Bawrut feat. Chico Blanco
Triangulo De Amor Bizzaro EP Ransom Note Records TBR: 5th February Taking on the new year of electronic music with The Bizarre Love Triangle, Bawrut teams up with Chico Blanco and a host of remix artists. Plotting a musical vector between Granada and Madrid with momentum added from three momentous genre benders, this track is reinvented again and again in order to fully explore its dancehall potential. With resonant bass and snare, the track begins. A quick and striding tempo manifests as various drums add a provocative element. Snappy timbres and jutting inserts bring out an experimental and compositional quality. Bass rolls in with swagger and charm and the tempo grooves into itself further. Vocals then splash colour across the woodwork, depicting bright and emotive aspects to the rhythmic hook. This original mix works us into an rnb electro frenzy as sleek and smooth vocals work a lather into the body grabbing beats. Next we're treated to a Super Drama remix of the tune. It opens with an adapted version of the intro rhythm. Bass and snare tear at the walls while hats and shakers bring out a fuzziness to the sound. An evolution is instant, amplitude and aggression is added to the percussion set. What-ever had held it back was now gone. A few bars later, the vocals begin. A stitching of tempo with cymbals and synthesiser reveals a quicker feel to the music. Energetic phrases rip the lyrics sheet line by line as the music revolves on tighter and tighter curves. The next version opens with a deep and chewy bass which surrounds the drumming like a soft-dough. Deep and body reaching beats delve grooves in the dance-floor as repeating rhythms manage to hypnotise with a simple progression. The vocals creep in on a bed of elevated synths which create the main course of the dramatic interlude. This Kirsty Harper remix makes use of an instrumental composition that draws on subtle vocal layers only when the mood is set, well into the main section of music. Tampered beats unravel as a new remix is offered. The same driving tempo is there, a two step foray of drumming carries the flag. Resonant and spacious effects on the drums bring out a huge landscape of percussive perspective. Again, the synths are adjusted into spiky and luminous mentions of sonic geography which warp the contours of sound beyond the original map. Beigean brings this novel take on the mix with wide-reaching rhythms and fundamentally dance orientated lines of thought. Where are the vocals? Buried under huge layers of resonant percussion, rendered unimaginable. The final track is a Chico Blanco version. This time, the vocal is taken up right from the beginning and forms a vital part of the tempo arrangement. Sampled bursts of voice ring out over solid drums and synth. The bass unwraps over rocky surfaces as thumping kick builds into a driving force. The forward momentum is tampered with spliced lines and words that call like echoes over distant mountaintops. A shaking percussion rattles by like clattering carriages as pulses of rhythm push the energy into a continually spinning focus of intent. You can follow Bawrut on Facebook Bandcamp and Soundcloud
